We are incredibly proud to announce that seven of our Inclusive Taekwon-Do athletes, each living with a disability, will be travelling to Christchurch on 11 December to deliver a full, high-level demonstration at the Special Olympics New Zealand National Games.
Their showcase will include:
Patterns
Team Patterns
Board Breaking
Self-Defence
Inclusive Sparring
Each element has been carefully crafted to highlight discipline, precision, teamwork and the true spirit of Original ITF Taekwon-Do as created by our Founder, General Choi Hong Hi, performed in the unique capacity of athletes with disabilities.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities – 3 December
This moment is especially meaningful.
Just days before our demonstration, the world acknowledges International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3 December).
For NZ ITF and IITA, the timing of our performance on 11 December could not be more symbolic. It reflects our mission, our values, and our newly signed official partnership with Special Olympics NZ, showing what true inclusion in martial arts looks like.
A Demonstration to Watch Out For
This will not be an ordinary performance —
it will be powerful, disciplined, emotional and inspirational.
A showcase of what can be achieved when opportunity, belief, and hard work come together.
Our squad will demonstrate:
Strong discipline
Impressive breaking skills
True teamwork
Confidence and courage
Original ITF techniques performed with pride
This is the future of Inclusive Taekwon-Do in New Zealand, and we are honoured to represent our country and our art on such a respected national stage.
