👊 Why We’ve Split Our Classes by Grade – And Why It’s Working So Well

Our first week back on the mats has been a huge success — and one of the biggest improvements everyone has noticed is our new grade-specific class structure.

Instead of large mixed groups, we are now running:

  • ✅ White belts
  • ✅ Yellow to Green stripes
  • ✅ Green belts and above
  • ✅ Plus dedicated Black Belt training

And already… the difference has been incredible.

What we’re seeing from students

  • Learning more efficiently
  • More focused
  • Moving with better technique
  • Getting more individual help
  • Training with others at the same level

White belts feel more confident without higher grades rushing ahead.

Senior grades are challenged more and can train deeper without slowing down.

Overall, classes feel calmer, more structured, and more productive.

Most importantly: parents are noticing the improvement too — which is awesome to hear 🙌

This system allows us to keep standards high and give every student the attention they deserve. Quality training has always been our priority over just having big numbers.

A big positive: our new Assistant Instructors

To top it off, it’s been wonderful having our new Assistant Instructors stepping up and helping lead the lower grade classes.

Their support means:

  • More coaching and support for learning
  • More corrections
  • More encouragement
  • Better learning for everyone

It’s great to see our leadership team growing alongside our students 💪

Thank you to all members and families for trusting the process and supporting the changes. We’re only one week in and already seeing fantastic progress.

Excited for the term ahead — let’s keep improving together 👊🤝
